Childminding Ireland is the National Childminding Association. We are the trusted and passionate advocate for childminding.
With the introduction of new childminding regulations in September 2024, it is vital that the voices of childminders continue to be heard during the 3 year transition period to mandatory regulation. You can read more about how Childminding Ireland is standing up for childminding on our website.
Childminders are asking politicians for 3 things:
SUPPORT CHILDMINDING IRELAND
- Restore and guarantee long-term funding for the National Childminding Association
- Reverse 15 years of declining resources
- Ensure childminders have a strong voice in policy decisions
- Resolve the growing annual funding deficit
REVIEW CHILDMINDING REGULATIONS
We call for a comprehensive review of Childminding Regulations within 18 months that will:
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the regulations
- Identify challenges and unintended consequences
- Collect feedback from childminders, children, and families
- Make necessary adjustments before regulations become mandatory for all non-relative childminders
EMPOWER CHILDMINDERS
Put childminders in control of their sector’s future by:
- Giving them a leading role in developing:
- Financial support systems
- Quality Development Programme
- Providing proper financial incentives and support
The future of childminding in Ireland needs to be secured. Together, we can build a stronger more sustainable childminding sector in Ireland.
