Helping Children Manage Anxiety

Helping Children Manage Anxiety

As a childminder, you play a key role in supporting children who are experiencing anxiety.  According to the HSE (2022), symptoms of anxiety in children may include:

  • always worrying or having negative thoughts
  • finding it hard to concentrate
  • not sleeping, or waking in the night with bad dreams
  • not eating properly
  • quickly getting angry or irritable, and being out of control during outbursts
  • feeling tense and fidgety
  • using the toilet very often
  • always crying
  • being clingy
  • complaining of tummy aches and feeling unwell

Join Dr Mary O’Kane for an insightful webinar during which she will explain childhood anxiety, its causes, effects, and how it impacts children emotionally and physically. She will also share practical strategies to help children manage their fears and build confidence.

Dr Mary O’Kane, a Lecturer in Psychology and Education, has presented several webinars on behalf of Childminding Ireland, receiving excellent feedback from participants.
